Knit One, Pray Too is in it’s third year! During this time we have knitted and crocheted over 400 items. These items include prayer shawls, hats, mittens, scarves, sweaters, pot holders and have all been donated. They have been donated to the Pettengill House, Somebody Cares New England, Women’s Crisis Center, Guidepost (these sweaters are shipped all over the world) and Mission of Hope in Haiti.
As we knit these items, the recipients are prayed for and a card of encouragement is frequently included. We have received many cards of thanks from those whose lives have been touched by these ”warm“ offerings.
One of our prayer shawl recipients was "cleared" of breast cancer. Another is terminal and sleeps with her prayer shawl nightly. Our prayer is that each feels loved and an extra boost of hope.
We have all levels of knitters and crocheters in our group. We also have some that join us from other churches to meet for fellowship and donate their time to our projects. We are blessed to have a storehouse of yarn and patterns at our disposal and love to teach what we know to others.
Currently we are partnering with Anna Jacques Hospital to knit chemo hats for their oncology unit. We are also knitting lightweight washcloths, potholders, hats and booties for ”Mission of Hope” in Haiti . Our prayer shawls are a continuing ministry.
We invite you to join us the first Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Please see Pat McGowan (978-388-4451), Diane DeBourke (978-388-2544), or JoAnn Whitley (978-465-5786) with any questions.
